She saw huge improvements with her health but after a stressful period in her life, she started gaining weight, getting cystic acne, and she lost her period.

No matter how “healthy” she ate, and no matter how much she worked out, she couldn’t drop a pound and actually seemed to be gaining. she tried to balance her hormones and increase her progesterone but nothing seemed to be working. She was crushed.
After graduating as an NTP, she decided that her mission is to help women discover and improve their blood sugar issues. Research suggests that 1 out of 3 adults has prediabetes. Of this group, 9 out of 10 don’t know they have it. 29.1 million people in the United States have diabetes, but 8.1 million may be undiagnosed and unaware of their condition.

“I have a theory; fasting fits nicely with just about every diet plan.”
- Jimmy Moore
Dr. Cecily Anne Clark-Ganheart, MD, FACOG is a maternal-fetal and obesity medicine physician and speaker, located in the Kansas City Area. She became interested in obesity medicine after her struggles with weight loss. Like many of you, Dr. Cecily Anne would experience temporary weight loss, only to regain much of what she lost.

Dr. Cecily Anne reached a weight of 202 pounds through an employer-sponsored weight loss program at the time. However, the weight began to return, though she followed the plan.
In 2017, Dr. Cecily Anne came across a book recommendation, entitled, The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung. The next book I read was Deep Nutrition by Dr. Cate Schanahan, which talked about a more ancestral approach to eating involving whole, real foods.

Are the theories about macro balance we spout set in stone for everyone? Find out in this explosive and sometimes controversial special episode of REAL TALK!
It’s Thursday and that means another action-packed episode of the realest talk on the internet–Real Talk with Jimmy Moore and Dr. Will Cole. Today we talk about the intricate relationship between the gut and the brain.

“A lot has changed in our diet, from disruption of the microbiome to the breakdown of nutrients in our food.”
- Dr. Will Cole
Today Jimmy and Will take a deep look at the fascinating connection between the brain and the gut. How can the brain possibly affect how our gut reacts, and how can the gut possibly have anything to do with mood and a sense of well being? Find out in this explosive special episode of REAL TALK!
It’s easy to take for granted what a brilliant biological machine the brain is. This amazing organ manages every aspect of your body — from your thoughts to your hormones, muscles and digestion.
Sadly, diseases of the brain are rampant in our society.
The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that close to 20% of American adults currently suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder. And the U.S shells out around $113 billion every year on mental health treatment. These figures don’t even factor in the cost of autoimmune brain problems like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis and autism — which are affecting more people every year.
With an increasing number of brain health problems we have to ask: why? Functional medicine is concerned with investigating the root causes.
It’s Thursday and that means another action-packed episode of the realest talk on the internet–Real Talk with Jimmy Moore and Dr. Will Cole. Today we bring you a special interview with Cognitive Neuroscientist Dr. Caroline Leaf.

– Dr. Caroline Leaf
“It seems to me that some people are falling apart while some people rise above the daily struggles. I’m interested in the intersection of these things.”
– Jimmy Moore
“Dr. Leaf is doing amazing research in connecting the brain and the body.”
– Dr. Will Cole
Dr. Caroline Leaf is a communication pathologist and cognitive neuroscientist with a Masters and PhD in Communication Pathology and a BSc Logopaedics, specializing in cognitive and metacognitive neuropsychology. Since the early 1980s she has researched the mind-brain connection, the nature of mental health, and the formation of memory. She was one of the first in her field to study how the brain can change (neuroplasticity) with directed mind input.
During her years in clinical practice and her work with thousands of underprivileged teachers and students in her home country of South Africa and in the USA, she developed her theory (called the Geodesic Information Processing theory) of how we think, build memory, and learn, into tools and processes that have transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), learning disabilities (ADD, ADHD), autism, dementias and mental ill-health issues like anxiety and depression. She has helped hundreds of thousands of students and adults learn how to use their mind to detox and grow their brain to succeed in every area of their lives, including school, university, and the workplace.
Listen in today to hear Dr. Leaf discuss the topic of toxic trauma and how these adverse effects can follow us throughout life and cause problems that might not be easy to pin down.
On today’s episode of REAL TALK, Jimmy and Dr. Cole are joined by Dr. Carrie Kholi-Murchison to talk about racial diversity and equality in the health and wellness community.

Your genetics influence almost every aspect of your health. Everything from your weight, mood, hormones, and immune system can be traced back to your DNA. As humans we want to know as much about ourselves as possible and because of this the demand for direct-to-consumer genetic testing has grown. For only $100 you can get a kit delivered right to your house for you to send in and get a complete summary of your genetics and ancestry. You can identify distant cousins around the world and conclude what percentage Neanderthal you are because really, who doesn’t want to know that?!
As a functional medicine practitioner Dr. Cole is less concerned with your particular ethnic heritage and more with what role genetics play in your health and how knowing your DNA can make you aware of your risk factors for certain illnesses. But are these tests really worth it or just an easy way for the health industry to make a few dollars? Let’s find out by first looking at the two most popular tests:
